Since 1994, the Native Plant Salvage has been doing work to protect water resources and improve habitat. While focused in Thurston County, they interact with communities throughout the Salish Sea.

Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in Olympia, Washington, is located where the freshwater of the Nisqually River flows into Puget Sound. The mosaic of different habitats found on the River Delta provide optimal conditions for diverse and abundant wildlife.

The Nisqually Stream Stewards (NSS) is a program offered by the Nisqually Indian Tribe and Nisqually River Council, who recognize that long-lasting restoration and stewardship will only come about through community-based efforts.
