Who we are

We are a collaboration of environmental education, communication, and outreach professionals working to protect and enhance the health of the South Sound region. We connect educators, organizations, policymakers, and community members to strengthen local efforts and create a healthier future.

Founded in 1991, the network has grown to include more than 400 members representing nonprofits, schools, agencies, and community groups. Together, we tackle issues ranging from clean water and ecosystem restoration to sustainable communities and environmental education.

Eco-Net also serves as a hub for shared learning and collective action, supporting educators with professional development, amplifying their programs, and helping partners stay connected across the region. By bringing people together and coordinating information, we make it easier for the South Sound’s environmental community to collaborate, innovate, and build long-term impact.

  • To connect and support environmental educators and outreach professionals, strengthening collaboration and amplifying impact across the South Sound region and beyond.

  • Our vision is to create a thriving environment for future generations, while establishing a strong, resilient community that works together to protect and sustain the natural world.

  • We share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and support educators so environmental efforts can thrive. By connecting local work with regional initiatives, we amplify impact and create a stronger collective voice for the environment.

  • Eco-Net membership is free and provides access to a dynamic network of environmental educators. Members stay informed through our listserv and are invited to monthly meetings and special gatherings that foster connection, collaboration, and shared learning.

  • Eco-Net operates under fiscal sponsorship through CascadiaNow!, a Pacific Northwest nonprofit that supports grassroots organizations as they grow. Fiscal sponsorship allows us to receive tax-deductible donations and access administrative support without diverting energy away from serving environmental educators. This model gives us the structure and accountability of a nonprofit while we build our own capacity. CascadiaNow! has a long history of empowering community-driven projects across the region, and their partnership helps ensure that every contribution to Eco-Net goes directly toward strengthening environmental education in the South Sound.
